"Victoria's Secret was my absolutely biggest goal in life, and it was all I ever wanted career-wise. I actually loved it while I was there, it was so much fun and I had a blast. But the more I was modeling lingerie, and lingerie isn't clothing, I just started becoming more uncomfortable with it because of my faith...
I'm Christian, and reading the Bible more, I was becoming more convicted about it."
'It was pretty crazy because I finally achieved my biggest dream, the dream that I always wanted, but when I finally got it, it wasn't all that I thought it would be,' she said.
'Especially being married I just wanted to
keep my marriage sacred because divorce rates now in America are pretty high,
and I just want to do everything I can to keep my marriage special.'
Bisutti had decided to leave the lingerie company awhile ago. On Dec. 1, the day after the nationally televised Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in which Bisutti didn’t appear, the model posted to her Twitter page, “For all of you that were looking for me in the Victoria's Secret runway show this year, I wasn’t in it. I have decided not to model lingerie because I personally feel that I am not honoring God or my husband by doing it. My marriage is very important & with divorce rates rising I want to do everything I can to protect my marriage and be respectful to my husband. God graciously gave me this marriage and this life and my desire is to live a Godly faithful life, I don’t however judge others for what they do. Everyone is convicted on different levels.”
“He was so, so supportive of me and I’m so thankful that he let me grow and let me come to this decision on my own,” she said of her husband.
Bisutti’s decision to leave the lingerie company was also spurred on by an encounter with her 8-year-old cousin.
“I was doing my makeup in the mirror one day and she was watching me,” Bisutti said. “She looked at me and was like, ‘You know, I think I want to stop eating so I can look like you.’”
“It just broke my heart because she looks up to me and I didn’t want to be that type of person that she thought she had to do that to be beautiful,” she said. “Thousands of girls that think that being beautiful is an outer issue and really it’s a heart issue.”
Bisutti hasn’t completely given up on modeling just yet. She also posted to her Twitter page, “I am still modeling but only with brands that respect my decision not to wear lingerie. I am also doing TV work now :).”
She appears with Jennifer Lopez in a new Kohl’s commercial, and she’s working on a new television show to hit the CW in September. “My goal is just to be a better role model for the youth. I just want them to see me as somebody that they can look up to and somebody that’s going to be dressing appropriately and I’m not going to get into things that I wouldn’t want them to be getting into,” Bisutti told FOX411.
“I want to go over the top because I don’t think enough people go over the top about how serious all this is. I just want people to see something different about me because I have that faith and I think it’s so important for everyone to have.”
I applaud her for taking a stand. People change.
"I'm Christian, and reading the Bible more, I was becoming more convicted about it." She admits she was wrong. It's sick! Christians accuse her of false motives and insincerity and others of being prudish. If you don't want people to harass you for your beliefs, don't harass others for theirs! And, give her time to prove herself before you jump to comculsions. That's my opinion :)
(Btw, I saw this morning that at least one of my fellow bloggers had already posted about this, so I apologize. I actually did the draft for this post last night and then when I saw that this morning, I didn't click on it, because I didn't want it to influence my post. Lol! There was a really good interview she did with abc news, but the played pix of her modeling for VS, so I just quoted what she said.)
None of this belongs to me, I compiled them from other sources :)
