While striving to dress modestly, most of us, sooner or later, come across the cutest shirt that is perfect. However, the neckline maybe lower than we are comfortable with or the sleeves-too short. And that, dear friends, is when the art of layering comes in handy.
I say "art" because it is. Layering is one of those things that can make or break a wardrobe. Done poorly, it can become the ultimate example of frumpy. Done tastefully, it can broaden the horizons of our wardrobe considerably.
Christopher & Banks is one of my favorite suppliers for layering. They have tons of different colors. I started with some neutrals-white, off-white, tan, brown and black-and am slowly collecting pretty colors like: aqua, turquoise, ect. They are a little pricey, but they have lots of sales. Right now, they are having a sale where if you buy one clearance item, you can get the second free. (I don't know if this is only online though.) They also have skirts and dresses, but their outlet selection is a lot better than the online store.
My basic all around base layer: it solves low necklines and thin fabric.
If that is a little high-necked for you, how 'bout this one?
Have an adorable sleeveless shirt? I love the sleeve length coverage on this T!
Want something a little less? This is a great layer as well.
This is one of my favs. I just layer a contrasting shell under it, and its a little dressier due to the sleeve length.
Here's a few other ones that I thought were cute.
Anyway, until next time ladies. And in the meantime, check your local mall for C&B's!
